Sanford Collective: Bespoke Design Practice Sanford Collective creates interiors that gather history and grow more beautiful with use. Founded in 2021 by principal designer Emily Sanford, the Charleston studio works on historic renovations, sympathetic additions, and full-home furnishings packages. Our work draws from the character of Charleston and the Lowcountry, embracing patina, layered materials, and the kind of detail that emerges only with time. Emily brings a particular sensibility to color, texture, and pattern, working in ways that feel specific to each home and the family within it. Each project is led with rigorous process and continual coordination. The studio works in close partnership with architects, contractors, and artisans, anticipating and resolving the countless decisions that determine the longevity and grace of every element. By overseeing every layer with care, we create homes that not only look beautiful, but function effortlessly and support the way our clients truly live. The result is an experience that feels as considered and personal as the homes we create. We believe great design is an act of stewardship, preserving what is meaningful, refining what is necessary, and creating homes that feel both lasting and deeply personal. Permanence is a question of integrity, of materials, of process, of choices made early and well. We believe enduring interiors rest on proportion, restraint, and longevity. It’s about how space holds you over time. Emily's work is driven by the pursuit of that near-elusive, intangible feeling of home: a sense of belonging that can't quite be named, but is instantly felt. Emily lives in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant with her husband, their two young children, and their dog. Outside of design, she enjoys gardening, antiquing, taking in the beauty of the lowcountry, and playing Mahjong, pursuits that, much like her interiors, celebrate history, connection, and a sense of place. Sanford Collective is a member of Architectural Digest's AD PRO Directory, and selected projects have been featured in Homes & Gardens, Domino, In Kind, and Gander

I only have a few questions. Is a consultation call right for me?
Absolutely. Whether you're seeking fast-acting advice or diving into a full transformation, our community of designers is flexible when it comes to project size and scope. No question is too small, and no vision is too grand.
How can I prep for my consultation call?
Gather anything that helps communicate your goals — floor plans, sketches, photos, inspiration images, or materials. Whether the conversation centers on architecture, interior design, construction, or landscaping, the more prepared you are, the more productive your consultation will be. Family members, architects, and contractors are welcome to join the call to maximize your time.
How long are the consultation calls?
You can book a 30-minute or 60-minute consultation. A 30-minute session is ideal for focused questions — like finalizing a kitchen layout, reviewing material options, or refining a landscape concept. A 60-minute session allows for deeper collaboration, especially helpful for larger home projects or boutique commercial spaces.
I'm ready to revamp my entire home. Consultation call or full-service booking?
If you want a trusted professional to manage your project from concept to completion — whether it's building a new home, renovating a historic property, or designing a boutique commercial space — submit a full-service inquiry. If you're taking a more hands-on approach but want expert input along the way, a consultation is a smart fit.
